Mitchell on last Wednesday night observing their sixteenth 'wedding anniversary. Those who enjoyed this occasion were Mr. and Mrs. W. M.

The guests surprised their host and hostess with a gift of a beautiful crystal set. Mrs. W. C. Reams was hostess to a meeting of the Woman a Missionary Society of the Methodist Church on Monday afternoon.

The 11 members and trree visitors pres-, ent enjoyed a fine program. Judge Cecil Corbett Smith of Chicago. 111., visited this week in the home of his sister, Mrs. J. D.

V. T. Lewis charged with assault -fiand battery on Mrs. Ruby Corlue -Oand Ben Richardson, charged with violating the liquor law by having 32 cases of whiskey in his automobile. Mr.

and Mrs. Lewis were able to convince the jury that no assault was made on Mrs. Corleu, and Richardson convinced the jury that the 32 cases of liquor in his automobile were destined for Shreve-port. La- and $hat he had a bill of lading showing that was the destination. The Saturday session was a busy one with, a number of cases disposed of during the day.

Charles Irvin Homer. Irvin. Conyers Irvin were all found guilty of raiding chickenhouses in the western section of the county near the Haywood county line and were sent to the workhouse for 90 days: Charles Wade and Wood row Carr were found guilty of being Involved with the Irvins in some of their raids and were sent to the workhouse for 30 Robert Reed. John Reed, Andrew Reed and Marshall Hunt were found guilty of stealing five bushels of corn from E. G.

Terrell and were ordered to the workhouse for 15 days for the offense. The grand Jury reported a number of indictments Saturday afternoon and defendants in three of the cases were present in court to enter pleas of guilty and to accept their sentences. Charles Cole entered a plea of guilty to larceny and was sentenced to 30 days in the workhouse; Louis Brown entered a plea of guilty to carrying weapons and was fined $50 and ent to the workhouse for" 30 days: Clyde Terry, entered a plea of guilty to forgery and was sentenced to $0 days in the workhouse.
