B. Yarbrough Of Mercer Dies At Local Hospital Mrs. Annie Yarbrough, 48, of the Mercer Community died Thursday morning at 10:40 in the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after an illness of five months. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the chapel of Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. C.

E. Taylor officiating. Burial was in the Maple Springs Cemetery. Mrs. Yarbrough was born June 14, 1911 in Madison County and had been a life-long resident of this county.

She was the daughter of the late Henry Lewis and Odie Jane King Lewis and was a member of the Mercer Church of God. She is survived by her husband, Benton Yarbrough, a eon, Billy B. Yarbrough of Mercer, four daughters, Mrs. A. L.

Cox of Cloverport, Mrs. G. W. Mayfield of Hornsby, Misses Shirley Jean and Fannie Louise Yarbrough both of Mercer, three brothers, Eugene Lewis of Mercer, Robert Lewis of Jackson and Irvin Lewis of Truman, Ark. and a sister, Mrs.

George Davidson of Jonesboro, Arkansas. Pallbearers who served were Charlie Marsh, Steve Carter, Jonas Hardee, Charlie Maples Albert Mayfield and Roy Byrum. Mrs. W. H.

Rushing Of Nashville Highway Dies Mrs. Christine Rushing, widow of the late Walter H. Rushing, died Thursday night at 8:30 at Jackson-Madison General Hospital where ehe had been a patient for four weeks. She lived on the Nashville Highway. She had been in failing health for several years and in critical condition for the past month.

She was born at Lyon, near Eddyvllle, daughter of Louis Rainey and Lillian Duncan Rainey. She moved with her parents to Perry County, where she had her home until 1932 when she moved to Jackson. In 1933 she was married to Mr. Rushing who died in 1951. In addition to her father who lives at Linden, she is survived by a son, Philip Rushing of Nashville Highway, seven broth-ers, Vernon E.

Rainey of Portland, Oregon, Ernest and George H. Rainey of Warren, Ohio, Douglas Rainey of Cleveland, Hugh L. Rainey of Akron, Lewis E. Rainey of Route 4, Jackson, one sister, Mrs. Chester Avery of Linden, two half sisters, Mrs.

RQey Warren of Chicago, Mrs. Oscar Hemby of Lexington, two stepsons, Lynn H. Rushing of Memphis, Elmore H. Rushing of Jackson, two stepdaughters, Miss Ruth Rushing of Jackson, Mrs, Grace McClendon of Pinson. Services will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Lanier Funeral Home chapel, conducted by Charles Tripp assisted by Rev.

W. W. Henley. Burial will be in Brown's Church Cemetery. Pallbearers who are asked to meet at Lanier's at 1:45 o'clock Sunday are William H.

B. Smith Jr. Died at Humboldt HUMBOLDT. Tenn. Clifton Balou Smith 63, died at the Oursler Clinic at 2 a.m.

today after a long illness. He had been in failing health for a number of years, and had been a patient at the clinic for the past five weeks. Mr. Smith was born at Myers-ville. son of the late Clifton Balou Smith and Mrs.

Frances Anderson Smith. He had lived at Humboldt for the past 38 years. Mr. Smith was an active mem ber of the First Methodist Church. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge, and ac tive in its work.

He was a member of the Gibson County Court for the past seven years. In addition to his duties as a magistrate, he was a tax accountant. He and Mrs. Smith maintained offices in the old B. C.

Jarrell Building here. At one time he was associated with the Humboldt Canning Co. and the West Tennessee Fertilizer Co. Services will be held at the First Methodist Church at 2:30 p.m. Saturday with the Rev.

William T. Barnes, minister, and the Rev. W. C. Garland, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating.

Hunt Funeral Home is in charge. The body will be at the funeral home until time for services. Other than his wife, Mrs. Vera Hamilton Smith, he leaves three brothers, Sidney P. Smith of Shreveport, William Smith of Augusta, Ga.

World Briefs TOKYO (AP) Thousands of chanting, shouting Japanese surged through Tokyo streets to day and invaded the grounds of the Parliament building, demand ing an end to military ties with the United states. Police reported 371 persons were injured, 23 seriously.

Among the injured were 159 policemen. It was the most violent demonstration since the 1952 May Day riot, in which one Japanese was killed and 500 injured. TOKYO (AP) U. S. Adm.

Harry D. Felt, commander of U. S. forces in the Pacific, says the Soviet Pacific fleet now has more than 100 submarines, but there is no evidence any atomic-powered submarines are among them. Felt made the statement to reporters.

Curtiss-Wnght, under study by the Securities Exchange Commission because of the stock's dy- rations Wednesday, was undis turbed and advanced more than a point. Similar gains were made by Republic Aviation and Douglas Aircraft. Space age stocks unproved late in the session. Varian Associates and Thiokol rose about 2, Texas Instruments around a point and Ampex about 4. Gains of better than a point were scored by Ford, Chrysler, Woolworth, Anaconda, Texaco and Consolidated Electronics.

Lukens Steel gained around 2. Fractional gains were posted for U.S. Steel, Jersey Standard, Gen eral and Southern Pacific. High-priced International Busi ness Machines added 4 points or so. U.S.

Grain CHICAGO (AP) The grain futures market was generally weak today with soybeans again under heaviest selling pressure and leading the setbacks on declines running well over a cent a bushel at times. Trade was light with offerings finding slow acceptance in all pits. Brokers said the market appeared to be marking time from the Thanksgiving holiday until the weekend. Losses in grains generally were within minor fractions of Wednes day's closes. Carlot receipts today were esti mated at: wheat 1 car, corn 174, oats 25, rye 4, barley 34, soybeans 49.

Nannie Leslie Meals; two sons, Howard Meals and Clifford Meals, all of Clarksburg; a daughter, Mrs. C. H. Douglass of Lynchburg, a brother, Sid Meals of Clarksburg; two sisters, Mrs. Yancey Taylor of Huntingdon and Mrs.

He was run over by a dump truck working on a drainage ditch project behind bis home. He was born in Milan and moved to Memphis with his parents two years ago. In addition to his parents, he leaves a brother, James Richard Best; three sisters, including his twin, Sally Bell, Patricia Ann Bost and Nancy Jo Bost, all of Memphis; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Wood and Mrs.

J. R. Bost, all of Milan. Mrs. B.

Thomas Dies Thursday Mrs. Biddie Thomas died Thursday at 3:15 p.m. at her residence, 232 Middleton Street. She had been in failing health for a number of years. Funeral service will be held Sunday at 1 p.m.

at Macedonia Baptist Church, the Rev. R. J. Page officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery with Ford Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Thomas was born in Ripley, and moved to Jackson in 1924. She was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church. She is survived by one daughter. Mrs.
