Jan. 21 UFV-A 34-year-old convict remained in in jail here today while authorties decided what action to take now that he denies a killing to which he confessed at Valdosta, Ga. George Washington Bowman was returned here yesterday and charged with murder in the six -year old death of Mrs.

Thelma Seidel. his aunt. He immediately repudiated a confession he made to officers in the South Georgia city Sunday. Poice quoted him as saying he was accused of killing his aunt because of the ill-will toward him of a trusty in the Valdosta jail. Bowman told Chattanooga police he sipned the confession statement and extradition papers because he knew it would mean removal to Chattanooga.

Police said both of Bowman's statements would be referred to the attorney general's office to determine if they should be presented to the grand jury. Mrs. Seidel was last seen Sept. 24, 1947, when sha left home to buy medicine. Her decomposed body was found in a cemetery here six weeks later.

Officers said they have no evidence to link Bowman with her death. Stanley Takes Office As Virginia Governor RICHMOND. Jan. 21 LP) OUT OUR WAY 104 FOUR room apartment. Adults only.

Mother, 2 Sons Drown In Creek COLUMBIA, Jan. 2i A 21-year-old mother with two small sons in her arms toppled from a slick foot bridge and drowned in a rain-swollen creek near here yesterday. Victims of the tragedy at Kettle Mills Creek were Mrs. Judy Skipper Sims, 2-year-old Larry Wayne Sims and David Ray Sims, 2 months. A third son, James Sims 3, also fell from the 30-foot-long bridge but was rescued by his father who was working at a nearby barn when he heard his wife's screams.

Looking up, he saw Mrs. Sims and ths three youngsters fall into the creek. Sims was able to save only his eldest child from the swirling waters. The body of the youngest child was recovered last night but dragging crews continued to search the swift waters for the other bodies. Normally the creek is only a foot deep but yesterday's rains raised its level to five feet at the bridge.
