Johnson, 58, for many years owner and operator the Johnson Taxi Service of Bemis, died Wednesday afternoon in Medi Manor following a long illness. Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Friday from the Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons with Rev. C.

H. Fields, pastor of the Bemis Pentecostal Church, officiating. Burial will in Eberneezer Cemetery in Malesus. Mr. Johnson was born in Carroll County, son of the late Tom and Nellie Jones Johnson.

He lived most of his life in the Bemis Community. He was a veteran of World War member of the Cocks-Danuiels V.F.W. Post. He was a Pentecostal. Survivors are: one sister, Mrs.

Ed Stanfill of Bemis; two nephews, Guy Curtis Johnson of Malesus and James Titus Stan- of Memphis. Pallbearers will be: Bill Mc Coy, Marvin McKnight, Oren Snellgrove, T. M. Taylor, Eu gene Tubbs and Bill Latham. The body will remain at the funeral home until time for ser vice.

She had been an employe of Harvey Aluminum Com pany in Milan for a number of years. She was a member of the Oakwood Baptist Church near Milan. Surviving are her husband, Elco Volner; her mother, Mrs. Bessie Hinson; two brothers, L. Hinson of Milan and Clar ence Hinson of Linden; two sis ters, Mrs.

Lester Funeral services for Fred George Lester, 75, of 120 Holly wood Drive, a retired machinist for the Railroad, will be at 2 p.m. Friday from the Chapel of Griffin Funeral Home with Father Paul Shields Walker officiating. Lester died at 4:30 p.m Wednesday at the Jackson-Madi son County General Hospital, He was born in Yeovil, England, and moved to the United States in 1914. His wife preceded him in death July 10, 1962. Mr. Lester was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and of Jackson Lodge No.

45 He was a member of the Forked Deer Lodge No. 72 and served that machinist lodge as treas urer for more than 35 years He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Cocks-Danuiels Post 1848 Veterans of Foreign Wars and John A. Dea ver Post 12 American Legion. Mr. Lester was also an honor ary citizen of Boys' Town.

He retired as a machinist with the Railroad six years ago with 50 years of service. Survivors include: a brother, Bill Lester of Yeovil, England; four sisters of England; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Florence Si- ler of Jackson. Pallbearers, requested to be at the funeral home at 1:45 p.m., include Paul Wilson, Rudolph Dietrich, L. T.

Stanley, Lewis Kimsey, Troy Hefley, Frank Turner, Earl Williams, Jesse Barnes. Hugh Blackmon and Roy Williamson. Masonic graveside services will be held at the cemetery. The body will remain at the funeral home until time for ser vices. Mrs.

Lott HENDERSON Mrs. Weida Lott, 71, died at 12:10 p.m Wednesday at her home in Hen derson. She had been ill health for the past several years. Mrs. Lott was born in Chester County, daughter of the late John and Lena Stanfill.

She was married to Henderson Scott 1918. She was a member of the Unity Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Morgan Funeral Home. Burial will be Unity Cemetery.

Mrs. Lott is survived by her husband; four sons, Travis Lott of Enville, Harmon Lott of Bolivar, Carl Lott of Henderson and Carroll Lott of Selmer; two brothers, L. T. Stanfill of Jack son and Llovd Stanfill of Akron, Ohio: two sisters. Mrs.

Ida Franks of Jackson and Mrs. Betty Lott of Brownsville; and four grandchildren. The body will be at tne fu neral home until services. Pallbearers will be Sam Stan fill, Roy Stanfill, Homer Stanfill, James Lott, Ernest Lott and Edward Morns. Mrs.

V.E. Fields MIDDLETON Funeral ser vices for Mrs. V. E. Fields, 64, will be at 2:30 p.m.

Friday at the Shackelford Funeral Home chapel with burial in Middleton Cemetery. Mrs. Fields died early today the Tippah County Hospital Ripley, 'following a long illness. She was a lifelong resident Hardeman County and a member of the Middleton Meth odist Church. Surviving are her husband, Vaden E.

Fields of Middleton; brother, J. C. Rogers of Bolivar; a sister, Mrs. Effie Thompson of Walnut, Miss. The body will be at the fu neral home.

West State Mrs. Gammel Mrs. Hallie J. Gammel, 74. a resident of Jackson since Febru ary, died today in the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

She was the widow of Hershel D. Gammel, former electric plant board employe in Kentucky. He died in 1967. Mrs. Gammel was born in Warren County, daughter of the late Gideon Green Johnson and Elizabeth Pennington Johnson.

She attended the public schools of Warren County. She was a member of the Christian Science Church, Mt. Victor Hor Club, Rebecca Loc'' and Garden Club. Mrs. Gammel made her home in Bowling Green, prior to moving to Jackson.

The body will be transported to the Burguss-Grabil and Thomas Funeral Chapel in Bowling Green by Griffin Funeral Home. Griffin is in charge of local arrangements. Survivors are: one daughter. Mrs. George McConkey of Jackson; and one sister, Mrs.
