By STEVE MULLEN Sun Sports Staff Making it to the Saturday night finals proved no easy chore for the winners in Friday night's Mid-South Golden Gloves semifinals at the Jackson Coliseum.

Of the 23 decisions handed out Friday night seven were by technical knockout (TKO) and there were no knockouts. There were 10 unanimous decisions, five split decisions and one default. The winners Friday night advanced to the finals Saturday night. Tommy McKenzie of Little Rock could have taken the honor for the toughest victory a third round TKO over Randy Anderson in the novice heavyweight class. McKenzie looked to be a iure laser in the fight for the first two rounds after being knocked to the canvas twice and taking two standing eight counts.

But in the third round he came out swinging, surprised Anderson and sent him through the ropes with an uppercut before getting the TKO at the 1:15 mark. The Jackson area fighters came out tattered but somewhat victorious in their matches. Darryl Fuller of Jackson won a unanimous decision over Allan Brown of Memphis in the novice bantam weight class. Wayne Cole, a Covington novice lightweight, gained a TKO with 1:45 gone in the second round over Clifford Allen of Osceola. Ark.
