Collision kills Friendship ma so deaths 14C The Jqckson Sun, Jackson, Tennessee, Suncfay October 14, 1979 Mrs. Edna Waters Dodd HOLLOW ROCK Service for Mrs. Edna Waters Dodd, 70, wife of R.M. Dodd. will be at 4 p.m.

today at Prospect Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Allison and John Hedge officiating. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery with Bruceton Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Dodd died Friday morning at Benton County General Hospital in Camden after a long illness.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Brenda Steele of Savannah; a son, Billy Dodd of Hollow Rock; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Moody and Mrs. Thelma Hoereth, both of Smyrna, two brothers, Ernest Waters of Atlanta and. Clarence Waters of Inverness, four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

FRIENDSHIP A 45-year bid Friendship man and his 15-year-old son were killed Friday night in' a two-car collision on Main Street. Tennessee Highway Patrolman John Marvin identified the victims as R. C. Kendall, and his son Ronald Kendall, both of Friendship. Kendall's wife, Mary Ann, 41, and her mother, Mrs.

Irma Hipp, 68, were taken to Jackson- Madison County General Hospital. Mrs. Kendall was listed in poor condition Saturday afternoon and her mother was reported to be in fair condition. The driver of the other car, Shaw-ney Davis, 20, of Route 1, Friendship, was charged with driving under the influence and vehicular homicide, Marvin reported. Davis was treated and released at the Jackson hospital.

The state trooper said Davis was fleeing from Friendship police, driving south on Main at a high rate of speed. Pronounced dead on arrival at Gibson General Hospital in Trenton was Richard E. Davis, 822 S.

High St. Highway Patrolman David Trimmer reported that a car driven by Davis pulled into the path of a truck driven by Curtis Staggs, 91 John Jackson. Staggs, Mrs! Nellie Davis, and the Davis's daughter, Miss Dorothy Nell Davis, of Nashville, received minor injuries, Trimmer said. Trimmer said the attending physician determined that Mr. Davis suffered the heart attack prior to the accident, which was reported at 12:45 p.m.

Services for Mr. Davis will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Trenton with the Rev. Luther Clark and the Rev. Tommy Edwards officiating.

Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. He was born and reared in Gibson County at Rutherford. He was a graduate of Fitzgerald and Clark Preparatory School in Trenton and a 1917 graduate of Southwestern University. Mr. Clark was a lieutenant in the 70th Field Artillery Unit of the U.S.

Army, serving during World War I. He taught in the public schools of Helena, later to become superintendent of schools there. He was editor and publisher of the Bolivar Commercial for about 15 years, prior to returning to Trenton where he was the editor and publisher of the Herald Register. He retired in 1967. Mr.

Clark was a member of the Trenton Rotary Club, the Trenton Historical Society and First United Methodist Church, where he served as superintendent of Sunday School and member of the official board, governing body of the church. Other than his wife and daughter, he leaves four sons, Richard E. Davis Jr. of Murfreesboro, Nathaniel R. Davis of Ashville, N.C., Donald F.

Davis of Memphis and Kenneth Davis of Nashville; three sisters, -Mrs. Sammy Lee Campbell of Memphis, Mrs. Knox McRae of Deland, and Mrs. Herman Rush of Memphis; two brothers, Nathaniel Davis of Glenview, jilL, and Herbert Davis of Mayfield, and eight Nation's oldest citizen buried BARTOW, Fla. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Virginia Bartholomew Barham; a son, John David Barham of Jackson; two brothers, Haywood Barham of Bolivar and Virgil Barham of Covington; and nine sisters, Mrs.

Norma Austin, Mrs. Rebecca Porter, Mrs. Webb and Mrs. Pauline Rhear, all of Jackson, Mrs. Nina Hudson of Malesus, Mrs.

Elizabeth King of Memphis, Mrs. Helen Merwin of Franklin, Mrs. Dorothy Carr of Paducah, and Mrs. Patty Ward of Belmont, Calif. Edgar Lee Re ic hard CAMDEN Services for Edgar Lee Reichard, 72, retired security guard, will be at 10 a.m.

Paula Farmer, 77, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Brummitt Funeral Home with John Forgy officiating. Burial will be in East Side Cemetery at Martin. Mrs. Farmer died Saturday afternoon at her home here after a long illness.

Surviving are a son, Tom H. Farmer III of Martin; and two grandchildren. Miss Leigh Ann Briggs PARSONS Services for Miss Leigh Ann Briggs, 11, will be at the Parsons Mortuary at 2 p.m. Monday, with Dr. Harvey Tingle officiating.

Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Henderson County. Miss Briggs died following a short illness at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis. She was a lifelong resident of Memphis and was a Baptist. Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Marie Reeves Briggs of Memphis; her fathe James V.

Briggs of Memphis; and three sisters, Mrs. Jean Judd, Mrs. Mary Carney and Mrs. Anna Davidson, all of Memphis. James Adam Finger 'James Adam Finger, 74, of Route 1, Pinson, died Friday at Wilson's Boarding Home after a long illness.

George 'Buddy' Hammock SAVANNAH Services for George "Buddy" Hammock, 51, mechanic for Bordens Ice Cream will be at 1 :30 p.m. today at Shackelford Funeral Home with the Rev. W.E. Willis officiating. Burial will be in White Sulphur Cemetery in Pickwick Landing State Park.

Mr. Hammock died Thursday at Hines VA Hospital in Chicago. He was a veteran of the Korean conflict and a member of First Apostolic Church in Lockport, 111. Mr. Hammock formerly lived at Savannah and Counce but had lived in Arland Park, 111., for the past 21 years.

Surviving are a son, Stevie L. Hammock of ArFand Park, a daughter, Miss Rhonda D. Hammock of Arland Park; his mother, Mrs. Charlie Barnett of Counce; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Mitchell of Ross-ville, and Mrs.

Nannie Tingle of Ashville, two brothers, David Hammock of Corinth, and Mike Hammock of Savannah; and a grandson, Steven Hammock of Arland Park. Mrs. Relma Ailene Griffin MILAN Services for Mrs. Relma Ailene Griffin, 69, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial in Campgrounds Cemetery near here.

Mrs. Griffin died early Saturday at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital after a long illness. She was born in Carroll County. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Mrs.

Mrs. Mildred Katherine Melton HUMBOLDT Services for Mrs. Mildred Katherine Melton, 52, former Humboldtan who had lived in Walnut, were Saturday at Hunt Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Woodall officiating. Burial was in Mount Zion Cemetery.

Mrs. Melton died at her home Thursday in Walnut. She moved from Humboldt to Walnut about eight years ago. She was a native of Gibson County. Mrs.

Melton was a Baptist. Surviving are her husband, Clyde Melton of Humboldt; two sons, Charles Melton of Memphis and Richard Melton of Humboldt; a daughter, Mrs. Kathy Summer of Humboldt; a brother, Shelie Stills of Walnut; six sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Jones of Walnut, Mrs. Isabelle Hol-ley of Tipplersville, Mrs.

Mr. Hampton died Friday morning at Veterans Administration Hospital in Nashville after' a short illness. He was a veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Dorothy Kelly Hampton; a son, Randall Hampton; a brother, Tyler Hampton; a sister, Mrs.

Hester Wilkes; and a grandson, all of Huntingdon. Joseph Odell Johnson KENTON Services for Joseph Odell Johnson, 76, retired electrical engineer for Union Carbide, will be at 3 p.m. today at Karnes and Son Funeral Home here with Dr. Wayne Wima'n officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Johnson died Friday at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, after a long illness. He lived in Kenton before moving to Paducah. Mr. Johnson was a master Mason, a member of Scottish Rite and Eastern Star.

He leaves his wife, Mrs. Nell Ross Johnson of Paducah; two sons, Bobby Johnson and Jack Johnson, both of Athens, a brother, John Fred Johnson of Nashville; seven grandchildren and a greatgrandchild.
