Instead of cutting out of town, runaway bride Jennifer Wilbanks is cutting lawns. Wearing an orange community service vest and a ballcap with the slogan "Life is good," Wilbanks paid part of the price for her lies to police Tuesday by pushing a mower across the lawn of a government building in the sweltering summer heat. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Galyia Guthrie; two daughters, Brenda Long of Memphis and Debi Ragland of Bartlett; one sister, Louise Colter of Memphis; 5 grandchildren, Brian, Bethany, Brad, Jason and Lindsey, and three great-grandchildren; Cassidy, Kara and Hayden. "I need to get back to work. I don't want to get into trouble." But her mower kept sputtering out, prompting her to repeatedly yank on the pull cord to get it started again. After the eighth time, she let out a huge sigh. In all, Wilbanks was ordered to do 120 hours of service, and she's already completed 24 by scrubbing toilets in probation offices, picking up trash and washing public vehicles. "She's a hard worker.

She didn't take advantage of anything. She did more work than most people," said 17-year-old Michael Powell, who has worked alongside Wilbanks while serving his own 80- hour sentence for an offense he declined to disclose. Scroggins was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII. He was a self-employed automobile mechanic and was Baptist in faith. Mrs. Brock had made her home in Jackson for most of her life. She was a retired employee of the Wal-Mart south store. Mrs. Brock was a member of Englewood Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Peggy Reed and Naomi Bishop and two brothers, Orrin Gates and Clayton Gates. Survivors include husband of 51 years, Hoover Houston Brock of Jackson and to whom she was married on July 3, 1954; two daughters, Tina White and husband, Mark and Rhonda Butler and husband Kenny all of Jackson; two brothers, Bill Gates and Norman Gates both of Jackson; three grandchildren, Jonathan White, Travis Butler and Ryan Butler and several nieces and nephews. He graduated from Hamlett Robertson High School in Crockett Mills, TN and continued his education at Jackson State Community College. He was a 25 year employee with ANR Pipeline Elpaso Company, where he was a lead technician. He was a member of Englewood Baptist Church, where he was an active member of the Steve Cooke Sunday School Class. He is survived by his wife of thirtyone years, Susan Tillman Prince of Jackson; two daughters, Julie Prince and Jill Prince both of Jackson; his parents, Rev. Robert and Stella Prince of Alamo; four sisters, Darlene Knox and husband Larry of Crockett Mills, Debby Patterson and husband Steve of Alamo, Dana Lynch and husband Randy of Rives, TN and Kathy Camp of Jackson; two brother-inlaws, Larry Tillman and wife Marilyn of Alamo and Ronnie Tillman of Bells; his mother-in-law, Mary Kathryn Tillman of Alamo and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Simpson was a member of Bethel Springs United Pentecostal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. "Bob" Simpson on December 7, 1992 and a sister, Shirley.

He was born in Hardin County, TN on February 4, 1935 the son of the late Billy Talmadge and Madgie Hamilton Dowdy.

He was a retired Senior Master Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force having served for 24 years and was also retired from the U. S. Post Office having served 22 years. Mr.

Dowdy, is survived by his wife, Arlene Johnson Dowdy of Jackson. They celebrated there 50th wedding anniversary on February 12, 2005; three daughters, Jody Kelly and husband Ray of Cordova, TN; Janet Morris and husband, Ralph of Beech Bluff, TN; and Jennifer Jones of Knoxville; nine grandchildren, Robert Doyle, Ashley Cox and husband Trent, Hailey and Sarah Mitchell, Stephanie Owings and husband Chad, Cristen and Caroline Jones, James and Jeremy Morris, four great grandchildren, Hunter and Austyn Pearson, Peyton Cox and Macie Owings, four nieces, Mildred Edgin, Patty Vickery, Linda Deshazier and Debbie Doyle. He was preceded in death by one sister, Edith Clausel and by three brothers, Willie K. Dowdy, Jimmy Dowdy and Gene Dowdy.
