Jones said in a letter to Bratton that May was in court on a felony case on two of the dates in question. He said felonies take precedence over misdemeanors, such as selling beer to a minor.

Mrs. Capps died at her home Saturday morning after a sudden illness. She was born and reared in the Palestine Community of Chester County. She is the daughter of the late Tom Newton and Annie Allison Rowland. She attended schools in Chester County and in 1936 she was married to William Vernon Capps, also of the Palestine Community, who died 1992.

They made their home in the Palestine Community until 1955 when they to the Pinson area, Capps moved. farmed and Mrs. Capps was a homemaker. She was a member of Pinson Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Wray, and Cindy Leach; two sons, Jimmy Capps and Danny Capps all of Pinson.

She was also preceded in death by one son Michael Capps who died in four sisters, Clara Arnold Memphis, Joyce Whitman of Selmer, Ruth Tolbert of Bethel Springs and Reba Cupples of Henderson; two brothers, Burl and Drew Rowland both of Henderson; seven grandchildren, Renee Wray, Tammy Wray, Stacy Vinson, Kathy Walker, Sara Capps, Allison Capps and Rachel Leach; one step-great grandchild, Ashley Vinson.
