HUNTER The Jackson City Council voted Tuesday at its regular monthly meeting to rezone several parcels of property, and one section is upsetting some residential neighbors. The council voted 8-1 to approve the rezoning of 1.66 acres from general residential to medicalrelated service so the property can be developed by West Tennessee Healthcare.

John Bannister cast the only vote in opposition to the rezoning. The area is located west of Linda Vista Drive just north of Wilshire Drive on the south side of Forest Avenue. George Clark, who has lived on Linda Vista Drive since 1965, fears the rezoning will end the area's future as a residential district. "If the houses that are still here are destroyed by wind or fire, they could never be rebuilt residential again," he said. "I am afraid it will change the nature of this street altogether." The council also voted to approve the rezoning of 48.4 acres on the west side of F.E.

Wright Drive south of Interstate 40 from agricultural and single-family residential to planned unit commercial use for the development of West Park Place by Gary Taylor. Another 10.5 acres in the Thomsen Farms area off Walker Road was rezoned for commercial use. The request came from TLM Associates. Also, 21.5 acres on the north side of Country Club Lane east of Windwood Drive was rezoned from single-family residential to single-family residential development. The request came from Carl Kirkland, founder of Kirkland's, who has submitted preliminary plans to the city Planning Department to develop a planned community referred to as Bel Rieve.
